Foggy, silent , dartmoor experience

On top of dartmoor, driving home from Tavistock. It's so foggy like something out of hound of the baskervilles. I must be the most isolated person in the south of england. There isn't an artificial sound for miles, just sheep and birdsong. Silence, stillness, God's presence and love..... Anyway must continue driving in the mist, hope I don't hit a sheep!

intuitive introvert's guide to starting a church

Link: jonnybaker.

glad to see mark pierson has started blogging. i have added his blog to my list and newsreader to follow along. he has also started an urban seed church plant and is posting how the journey goes under the heading an intuitive introvert's guide to starting a church. his starting place?...

Prayer for simplicity within complexity

Arrived at my desk after 3 days with family and struck by complexity of what I'm aiming to achieve ... A multifacetted life with many modes of being... as Apostle Paul aspired to "all things to all people". I love what you are doing in me Father, but where is the simplicity to be found ? Love God, love everybody. says Jesus. Live in today as if this is your last. Be PRESENT when present. Father here I am, use me tonight as I speak to a load of clergy around Tavistock. May I be fully present for my hour with the family.

Fill my mind with thoughts of You and Your dreams. May this whole week be yours, help me to connect with coaching training and church planting thesis. May I not blob too much in front of telly. May this weekend be significant for the ending of global poverty. May your kingdom come and may your will be done.

Amen

Link: jason clark: Listen in to the Emergent-Uk Planning Day.

We had a great day yesterday for our first emergent UK planning day, to take time to explore who and what is Emergent in the UK, and what should we doing and not.

At hemel

At hemel, cool church with arno & lillian and my brother harvey... He is funding his whole ministry through government funding in social entrepreneurialism and church planting... Check out sites , I will add these later.

Had a wonderful few days, emergent forum on ways forward for emergent uk at london school of theology, day around london with kids and tomorrow meeting christian associates in nottingham for ways forward with church planting.

Find your theological world view

Thnaks Matt for this link.  Here is a summary of me, or is it !!!

You scored as Emergent/Postmodern. You are Emergent/Postmodern in your theology. You feel alienated from older forms of church, you don't think they connect to modern culture very well. No one knows the whole truth about God, and we have much to learn from each other, and so learning takes place in dialogue. Evangelism should take place in relationships rather than through crusades and altar-calls. People are interested in spirituality and want to ask questions, so the church should help them to do this.

20 ways to serve your street Thanks Graham for this: Smile and say hello to your neighbours in the morning, even when you are in a rush! Child-mind or baby-site for a family in the area. It is often a real treat for those with children to get a night or even a whole day off. You may want to get Criminal Records Bureau clearance for this. Help parents with a newborn baby by cooking a meal or offering to look after older children. This will allow them to spend time with the newest member of the family. Invite a neighbour round for coffee and a chat. The impact of simply spending time with another person cannot be underestimated. Offer to go shopping for someone who is elderly or housebound. They still need to get their weekly grocery shop done and you can also support local businesses when you shop. Provide a lift-sharing service for other children from the local school. This will be appreciated by busy parents, and it is good for the environment too! Teach someone how to use e-mail, something which many people don’t know how to do. You might be able to help a grandmother keep in touch with her grandchildren. Visit the sick in hospital, especially those who may be long-term patients. They might even welcome someone reading stories from the local newspaper to them. Help an elderly%2
